EFT is unique in the therapy world because it is both an easily-learned self-help tool and also a precision instrument for skilled therapists working with clients to resolve deeper issues. I love it for adapting so readily to my preferred person-centred way of working. I also love it for to minimizing the time clients need to be in therapy and the likelihood that they will experience pain along the way. As a therapist it I love for the way its comfortable fit with other therapeutic approaches gives me maximum flexibility to use to devise a relevant mix of approaches for each client.
I had a psychology degree and had trained in psychotherapy, hypnotherapy and EMDR* and had a private practice in London before I discovered EFT. It became my main approach but used it in ways interwoven and informed by these approaches. My interest in neuroscience, attachment and mindfulness also became part of the mix both in my therapy and in my more advanced training courses.
As well as working with clients in therapy for more than 30 years, I have trained hundreds of EFT practitioners and advanced practitioners in my AAMET accredited training courses. I am a qualified and AAMET-accredited supervisor and offer supervision to other therapists via Skype.
I organized one EFT International Masterclass in London, was one of the joint organisers of another and presented on EFT at conferences in the US, Australia, UK and on the continent of Europe.
I was a professional writer before I trained as a therapist and have written extensively on EFT. My book Introducing EFT – a Practical Approach is published by Icon books. A revised edition is due for release in April.
